Hiking Los Padres National Forest

Beautiful views of the Los Padres National Forest can be seen from many of the rooms in the Bates Ranch House. But the most stunning views can be found in the charming courtyard with original 1920’s brick fireplace. It’s a favorite among the families who have stayed at the ranch to sit by the fire, take in the view and enjoy quality time with one another.

With 1,257 miles of trails on 1,762,400 acres, with 875,000 acres of protected wilderness to explore, you won’t soon run out of new territory to discover! Los Padres includes most of the mountainous land along the California coast from Ventura to Monterey, extending inland. Elevations range from sea level to 8,847 feet. About 88% are public lands; the rest are privately owned.
